The Nurse Educator Certificate Program offers graduates of a Master of Science degree program in nursing an opportunity to engage in scholarly inquiry related to nursing education grounded in caring science. Theory-guided, reflective practice informs curriculum understandings and educational praxis in a variety of settings. Practicum experiences are available in colleges and universities, clinical professional development in acute care and community settings, simulation sites, and other teaching and learning environments to meet the student needs.

Program Location

This program is available to those already holding a MSN, DNP, or PhD or currently enrolled in a MSN program at 天美麻豆. 

Student Outcomes

As a student in this program, you will be able to:

  1. Explore the role of nurse educator through a caring science lens.
  2. Combine clinical expertise with nursing education to pursue career opportunities in academic, clinical, and community settings.
  3. Gain the skills and knowledge required to facilitate learning through curriculum design, teaching, evaluation and advisement.
  4. Complete a mentored practicum experience examining the educator role, utilizing principles of teaching and learning, implementing educational assessment and evaluating strategies.

Prerequisite

This 12 credit Post-MSN Certificate in Nursing Education program is available to students already holding a MSN, DNP, or PhD or currently enrolled in a MSN program at 天美麻豆. 

Admission Requirements

Please be sure to complete section V: Work Experience. Our program is designed for nurses in practice. Applicants who are not currently practicing nurses will not be considered for the program.

Must have a completed BSN degree with a GPA of 3.0 or above TO. Must have completed a MSN, DNP, or PhD program, or currently enrolled in a MSN program at 天美麻豆, with a GPA of 3.0

4. Unencumbered & Active Registered Nursing License

License must be from Maryland or a compact state.

5. Essay

The 天美麻豆 School of Nursing prepares graduates for opportunities and possibilities of fulfilling the mission to 渢ransform the world. The essay is considered seriously in the application review process. Take care to write clearly and logically, with attention to correct structure and format of good writing. APA formatting is preferred.

Please address both of the following instructions in a 500-700 word essay:

  • Describe how you intend to work towards fulfilling the mission of 渢ransforming the world upon program completion. Please address this topic from the perspective of the concentration to which you are applying. Please make mention of your specific goals for the future.
  • Provide a balanced assessment of your personal characteristics that may enhance your ability to become a leader in fulfilling this mission.
