We offer opportunities for commuter students to get involved, connect with the campus community, and take advantage of available resources. Commuter students include anyone enrolled at ÌìÃÀÂ鶹 in the Undergraduate Studies, College of Adult Undergraduate Studies, College of Graduate Studies, SOIH, and PhD programs.

Where can I stay between classes?

Commuter students have several welcoming spaces to relax, study, and recharge throughout the day.

    • Includes TV, refrigerator, and microwave access
  • Library
  • Knott Lounge / UAB
  • Student Life Lounges in MBK
  • Overnight Sign-In Option available for late stays on campus

These spaces are designed to help you stay productive, comfortable, and connected while you™re on campus.

What can I eat on campus or nearby?

There are flexible dining options for commuters ” whether you bring your own lunch or prefer to purchase food.

  • Dining Hall (Friday commuter discount available) Sage Website
  • Gator Grind Refrigerators & microwaves available in the commuter lounge
  • Nearby restaurants along Charles Street and Belvedere Square
  • Starbucks & food court options nearby on Loyola University Campus
  • Food delivery services such as DoorDash and UberEats are permitted
Can commuters attend campus events?

Commuter students are encouraged to participate in campus traditions and activities.

Ways to Engage

  • Club meetings and student organization programs (many are held from 12 pm-2 pm during activity period)
  • Student Engagement traditions such as:
    • Welcome Week
    • Gator Fest
    • Christmas Dinner

Attending events is one of the best ways to build friendships and stay connected to campus life.

Can I stay on campus late?

Commuter students may remain on campus for academic, social, or organizational commitments.

  • Make sure you keep your ID on you for building access.
  • Buildings close at 10 pm

If you plan to stay overnight or remain on campus very late, you must complete the Overnight Sign-In process through Residence Life

How do I get involved as a commuter?

Getting involved is key to making the most of your commuter experience.

You can:

  • Join clubs and student organizations
  • Attend athletics programs
  • Participate in campus traditions and events
  • Connect with commuter-focused initiatives and resources

How do I get to and from campus? (Transportation)

All students have transportation options available, including public transit, campus shuttle services, and parking access.

Public Bus Access

Two public bus routes serve the campus area:

  • Route 51 Downtown ” stop located near the Loyola Gym
  • Route 51 Towson ” stop located closest to the ÌìÃÀÂ鶹 entrance

Students are encouraged to download the following mobile apps to plan trips and purchase fares. These tools help you track buses in real time and manage transportation payments conveniently:

  • Transit App
  • CharmPass

Campus Shuttle Service

Students may use the campus shuttle to travel between key locations including:

  • Penn Station
  • Johns Hopkins Homewood Campus
  • ÌìÃÀÂ鶹
  • Towson University
  • Towson Town Center

A valid student ID is required to ride the shuttle.

Parking Information

If you have your own car, commuter parking is available in designated areas on campus.

  • One commuter lot is located in front of Fourier
  • Additional spaces are available near the athletic fields
  • (Spaces marked Faculty/Staff are restricted)

Public Safety actively enforces parking regulations, and vehicles parked in unauthorized areas may receive tickets.
